He married Isabella DEMPSTER Inverurie, Inverurie parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 31 May 1884. (Isabella DEMPSTER is #609.) Isabella was born Forgue parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland about 1857. Isabella was the daughter of Isabella HARPER.

James's occupation: farm servant and Ploughman Tullynessle, Tullynessle and Forbes, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 6 April 1891.⁽²⁴³⁾ In the census of 1901 at page 6, schedule 29, Farmhouse, Sittyton rooms 10, Head; William [Wright] not clear. Employer. It is very likely that James was employed by this farmer as he had a cottar house there.

He resided Tullynessle, Tullynessle and Forbes, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 6 April 1891, Balquhern Cottages.⁽²⁴⁴⁾ He resided Fintray, Fintray, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1901, Cottar house Sittyton.⁽²⁴⁵⁾
